The short version
You do not need an account for the rent comparison, and we do not store what you enter. There is no advertising and there are no third-party trackers.
The rent comparison
When you enter a place, a number of rooms and a rent, those details are sent to our server, compared there with the official figures and discarded right away. They are not put into a database and not passed on to anyone else.
Matching your place to a canton happens on our own server, using a list we ship with the site. So your address never leaves our server.
Visit statistics
We count how often a page is opened, so that we know whether the service is any use to anyone. For that we use GoatCounter on our own server. This counting sets no cookies, builds no profile and does not follow you across other websites.
If your browser sends the "Do Not Track" setting, the counting is not even loaded.
Account and reviews
You only need an account if you want to write a review yourself. For that we store your name or nickname and your email address. Your password is not kept in readable form: we store only a scrambled version that we cannot read back.
To keep you signed in, we set one technically necessary cookie. It is used for signing in only and never for advertising.
Your reviews are publicly visible once approved, together with the address of the building and the date. Your name is not shown. Even so, do not write anything in a review that you would not want read in public.
Accounts and reviews are held in a Postgres database at the provider Neon. The web server runs on a server at Oracle Cloud.
How long we keep things
What you enter in the rent comparison: not at all.
Account and reviews: until you ask us to delete them. Reviews that are still being checked you can delete yourself in your account.
Visit statistics: as a number per page and day, with no link to a person.
Your rights
You can ask us at any time to tell you what data we hold about you, to correct it or to delete it. Write to hi@zzd.ch for that.
The Swiss Federal Act on Data Protection (FADP) applies. If you live in the EU, your rights under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) apply in addition.
